Riveredge Nature Center

Monday, October 12, 2026 · Back patio

Adirondack chairs, birdsong and nobody else here. Quiet enough that a call would be a crime if anyone showed up.

Early Monday morning, before the lobby opens at 8:30, and there is no one here. Out on the back patio there’s a bunch of Adirondack chairs and a picnic table where eight could sit easily. It’s so quiet: just leaves rustling and birds chirping. Taking a phone call while anyone else is here would be a travesty.

The arms on the Adirondack chairs are wide enough to hold my laptop while I type on it.

First wifi test, from the patio: 48 Mbps down, 10 up, 10 ms ping, but latency under load was ugly (240 ms down, 1334 ms up). Fine for browsing, I wouldn’t trust it for a video call. Speedtest result.

I haven’t talked to staff about people working here, but I’ve seen at least one other person do it, inside at the strip of tables facing the windows.
